Spring Performances
In 2008, Ms. Viktoria Titova choreographed Tales from the Mediterranean. Ms. Viktoria and professional dancers performed variations from King Midas and the Golden Touch. El Enves de las Noche signified Ms. Viktoria Titova’s first collaborative project. Ms. Viktoria selected a musical performance by Emanuel Vardi, whose expertise on the violin and talent as a painter illuminated the event.
In 2009, Ms. Viktoria Titova choreographed an original two-act ballet adapted from Hans Christian Anderson’s fairytale, The Mermaid. The Mermaid featured live music, regional professional dancers, and Ms. Viktoira as the lead, The Mermaid. This was a fun and enchanting ballet for individuals of all ages to enjoy. This performance was Ms. Viktoria’s second creative collaboration.
In May of 2010, Ms. Viktoria Titova choreographed and performed in the original ballet, The Jewel Heart. This was a collaborative project with local award-winning children’s author Barbara Helen Berger, regional musicians and regional professional dancers. Over 100 professional and advanced student musicians performed multiple pieces, including Mozart’s Requiem (orchestra and choir) during the production. This was the culminating project of three years which brought dancers and musicians together to learn from each other and create art together.
In 2011, Ms. Viktoria Titova choreographed a ballet to Tchaikovsky’s Seasons. Talented musicians performed Tchaikovsky’s set of twelve rich solo piano pieces, each reflecting a month in the northern hemisphere. Under the artistic direction of Ms. Viktoria, EBA faculty designed unique choreography for each month to be performed in collaboration with the music. Advanced EBA dancers brought each piece to life. Guest performers performed the Pas de Deux from Sleeping Beauty to enchant audiences and bring this rendition of Sleeping Beauty to life on stage.
In 2012, Ms. Viktoria Titova staged the brilliant and powerful ballet Moontellers. Moontellers focuses on literacy, world music and classic national dances. It included EBA dancers of all ages portraying different folktales about the moon from around the world. Advanced EBA students performed Les Sylphides, a short ballet with choreography by Michel Fokine and music by Frederic Chopin.
In 2013, Ms. Viktoria Titova choreographed another ballet to Tchaikovsky’s Seasons. Partnering with the Russian Chamber Music Foundation of Seattle, the event reached its pinnacle with a full-length performance at Benaroya Hall. Under the artistic direction of Ms.Viktoria, EBA faculty designed unique choreography for each month to be performed in collaboration with the music.
In 2013, Ms. Viktoria Titova staged Pictures at an Exhibition, a ballet inspired by the paintings and drawings by Viktor Hartmann. The ballet translates the vivid expressions of Hartmann’s art into movement. This ballet takes an abstract approach rather than the conventional form which often follows a narrative to tell a story. EBA dancers and choreographers took on this unconventional ballet and brought it to life on stage.
In 2014, Peter and the Wolf featured original choreography by Ms. Viktoria Titova to Prokofiev’s classic score. The "Meet the Musicians" introduction showcased PreBallet students dancing to live musicians playing instruments featured in Peter and the Wolf: bassoon, oboe, flute, clarinet, french horn and violin. During Act II, advanced EBA students and guest artist Shane Tice performed Paquita, with choreography by Petipa.
In 2015, Ms. Viktoria Titova choreographed an original EBA ballet based on the popular Brothers Grimm tale, 12 Dancing Princesses. 12 Dancing Princesses showcased dancers of all ages. Following this was Act II of the timeless and tragic Giselle, featuring advanced EBA students and guest artist Shane Tice performing Petipa’s original choreography.
In June of 2016, Ms. Viktoria Titova staged the ballet Cipollino, originally choreographed by Genrikh Mayorov and based on the children’s book Cipollino by Gianni Rodari. Cipollino tells the story of Cipollino, a little onion who fights against the unjust treatment of vegetables by fruit. Both junior and advanced EBA dancers performed this fun and enchanting story, accompanied by a live orchestra.
In 2017, Ms. Viktoria Titova choreographed a ballet based on the story My Momma had a Dancing Heart by Libba Moore Gray. This story captures the connection and memories between a little girl and her mother throughout the seasons. Our dancers put on heartfelt performances to bring this book to life through a touching exhibition of thoughtfully choreographed ballet, eccentric and creative costumes, and a unique and colorful set design.
In 2018, Ms. Viktoria Titova choreographed a ballet inspired by the classic children’s tale, Peter and the Wolf. set to music by Russian composer Sergei Prokofiev, Peter and the Wolf enchanted audiences with its comedy, joy, and whimsy.
In Act II, senior EBA students presented Les Sylphides—an ageless trance brought to life through choreography by Michel Fokin. Pianist Judy Huehn gracefully rendered Frédéric Chopin’s music, adding an enchanting layer to the performance.
In May of 2019, with the support of Ms. Viktoria Titova, Mr. Roman Zinovyev and Ms. Tatiana Liabina staged the whimsical ballet, Coppélia. Set to music by Léo Delibes, this delightful story follows the spirited Swanilda, her fiancé Franz, and a mysterious girl who almost comes between them. Combined with the portrayal of dolls and toys from Dr. Coppélius' shop, this ballet tells a tale full of fun and humor perfect for all ages.
In 2022, Ms. Viktoria Titova staged renowned ballets Paquita and Don Quixote Suites, based on the novel Don Quixote by Miguel De Cervantes. Talented EBA senior dancers portrayed the famous roles from these well-known ballets. The emotional, timeless, and culturally rich Spanish tales of Paquita and Don Quixote were brought to life by EBA teachers, choreographers, and dancers.
In 2023 Ms. Viktoria Titova staged the renowned ballet The Sleeping Beauty. Originally choreographed by Marius Petipa and scored by Tchaikovsky, The Sleeping Beauty tells the tale of the Princess Aurora and the curse cast upon her by an evil fairy. Talented EBA dancers artfully portrayed this enchanting tale and the challenging, dynamic roles that it is known for.
