Dress code 

For the 2023-24 season, we have chosen a SÓ DANÇA tank-style leotard with an empire waist and scoop back. The leotard comes in children’s (Editta SL116), adult’s (Edda SL115), and plus sizes (Edileia SL185), and can be purchased at On Pointe Dancewear, online, or anywhere the SÓ DANÇA brand is carried. Class leotards are required for all technique and character classes, with enrichment class requirements as noted. For more information (including performance wear), please see our dress code document.

LEOTARD COLORS:

 
 

PREBALLET 1, 2, 3:

Any solid-colored leotard, pink or skin-toned tights and ballet shoes. Ballet skirts are allowed. Dancers should have their hair secured away from their faces, in a bun if possible. Male students should wear a white t-shirt and black leggings or close-fitting shorts, and black ballet shoes.

FEMALE DANCERS in LEVELS 1-3:

Class uniform leotard as well as pink or skin-toned tights and ballet shoes. Hair must be worn in a bun and secured neatly away from the face. Please no jewelry, watches, etc. 

FEMALE DANCERS in LEVELS 4A+:

Class uniform leotard as well as pink or skin-toned tights and split-sole canvas ballet shoes. Hair must be worn in a bun and secured neatly away from the face. Please no jewelry, watches, etc. 

New-to-pointe dancers in levels 4B+ should purchase satin ribbons when beginning en pointe. 

Upper-level dancers may wear a different-colored leotard of their choosing for Power Pointe class. Class-assigned BulletPointe style skirts are acceptable for dancers in levels 5A+. 

MALE DANCERS IN LEVELS 1+:

White t-shirt, dance shirt, or bodysuit; black dance tights, close-fitting black shorts or leggings; and black ballet shoes. A shirt must be worn at all times. 

Character:

Class uniform leotard, character shoes and a black, just-below-the-knee character skirt.

JAZZ:

Class uniform leotard, black footless tights or black leggings, and black split-sole jazz shoes.

CONTEMPORARY:

Class uniform leotard and black footless tights or black leggings. Students dance in bare feet or socks.
